A liner is important because it creates a barrier that stops lip-stick from bleeding or feathering.

Apply lipstick or gloss, then liner - it's easier to blend.

Apply liner on top of the first coat - use a shade just slightly darker than the lip-stick, so you won't look like a circus clown when the lip-stick fades.

Blend liner and lipstick together with your finger or lip brush.
